The Commute

The Commute

Single-Player RPG

By Faye Walsh and Ava Byrne Kavanagh

Experience Goals:

We aim to have the players experience many emotions from the different interactions with characters and the multiple dialogue options. We want them to feel like they have control over the story with their choices. The unique characters will keep the player engaged.

We want to give the players the option to either explore their surroundings to discover different paths/items or they can choose to march forward and face the challenges head on. This will give the players new experiences with each playthrough

Design Goals:

We want the style to be cartoony style, but have dark and ominous lighting.

Game mechanics:

Walk through the town to get to your bus stop without losing all your health.

Solve puzzles using the environment and figure out how to proceed through the different areas.

Talk with the different NPCs around the world and make choices that will impact the story positively or negatively. You will be able to find a variety of items around the map that can help you when talking with the NPCs to gain more information on your current objective/problem.

A simple yet intuitive battle system against some of the more peculiar characters the player will encounter.

Game Subject Matter:

Play as a college student with a long commute from their small town to a large and populated city who doesn’t want to interact with the odd towns people. You must help them navigate the various areas, solve problems to progress and keep the student from losing their mind from the many strange, odd encounters from the peculiar people that roam the streets.

Play as the student travels from their small town to a large and populated city.
