Vertical slice and Scope - Faye :0


I have been mainly working on the visuals for the vertical slice. I have completed the backgrounds for inside the house, which is where the vertical slice will take place. The artstyle has changed slightly to be a little neater and the outlines are now thinner. I like how they all came out and I feel the small details that I have included help the player connect to the characters.  

I also created the sprite for the first NPC. This is the players mother who they will interact with in the kitchen. This will be where the player gets their first look at the choice system.  

Currently the dialogue and choice system is being worked on by Ava. We have very simplistic transparent dialogue boxes to match the style.  

The walk cycle for the player has been completed and implemented into the game. I am very happy with how this came out! Having the character animated makes the game feel much more complete.  

Even though we are making a lot of progress on the vertical slice, I do think that we will have to change our scope for the rest of the game. We will have to cut down on how many different characters we will have as we want the interactions to be engaging and entertaining for the player and with less characters to focus on, we will be able to put more energy into creating good gameplay.  

We are aiming currently for 5-10 minutes of gameplay. I do think this is doable as our main gameplay loop is having the player interact with the environment and other characters.
