Developing Vertical Slice of Our Prototypes - Ava
This week we spent some time reviewing our prototypes and are in the process of combining them together into a “vertical slice” demonstration to show off in our next playtest.
Our vision for the project is to create a fun, relatable narrative with some puzzles added in to keep the player engaged in the gameplay and explore the different levels. For the first section of the game, the player is put into the main characters house where they start their long journey for college, navigating through their houses interacting with various points of interest to help give depth to the environment and build up the story.

This beginning section will be what we’re using for the core mechanics demo for our class. It will show off what the movement will feel like and how the player will interact with the world's environment, going between different rooms of the house and an improved dialogue layout to bring life to the NPCs.

My responsibilities for the team will mostly be doing the coding for the game mechanics, but I will also be working alongside Faye to help with creating the visuals, music, sound effects, and figuring out what the UI will look like.
For the core mechanics, I am going to continue working on the dialogue script and fix the camera to follow the character and create a camera boundary to make sure the player can’t see past where we want them to see.
